Background The Blue Green Dream Project works to enhance the synergy of urban blue (water) and green (vegetated) systems and provide effective, multifunctional Blue Green solutions to support urban adaptation to future climatic changes. It is a project under the European Institute of Innovation and Technology's Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community. Key issues of modern society are reckless building and the phenomenon of forgetting importance of human relation with nature, which has lead us to severe and maybe irreversible climate changes. The question is how did we let this happened? The last century passed in the process of fighting for fossil fuels, whereas this century could be defined as the battle for clean water. We all are witnesses today that Ecosystem services are rapidly emerging as a key issue in the 21th. century. Comfortable life is goal we want to achieve. To do that we must change ours behavior.

Mission - Spatial Planning
Spatial planning has key role in addressing the causes of climate change. Blue Green Solutions enhance the synergy of urban blue (urban water infrastructure) and urban vegetated areas (green systems) by providing multiple benefits to urban ecosystem services and functions. Ecosystem based sustainable urban planning can help achieving: Increased amenity values and urban health Mitigation of extreme UHI (Thermal effect) Sustainable Water management ( water demand, water harvesting, sustainable drainage system*) Increase resilience to droughts Reduction of energy demands (energy-efficiency of building, demand for heating and cooling) Reduction of water, air and noise pollution Enhancement of biodiversity and quality of life Enabling sustainable urban food production Additionally they have significant socioeconomic benefits such as: job creation, reduction of antisocial behaviour and crime. BG solutions are thus considered essential in planning for both new urban developments and retrofitting of the existing urban fabric.

Research plan Integrate model into BGD integrated modelling systems
Test asset level without BG infrastructure Make database of results and make model Integrate model into BGD integrated modelling systems Assess impact on human well-being Choose demo site Set the boundary level Make model for different scenarios Problem is that government sees Noise as a nuisance not the environmental problem. Based on Test asset level with BG infrastructure
14
Methods This principal aim will be disaggregated into the following detailed objectives: Extensive literature survey in order to identify knowledge gaps and research challenges Development a new integrated model of urban planning with Glue-Green Dream technologies such as flood risk management, microclimate and bioclimatic architecture based on parametric design. Selection of demo/test location and monitoring of processes to enable quantification of eco-system services performance indicators Valuation of interactions of urban biodiversity and ecosystem services with urban B&G infrastructure. Experimentally verify the impact of integrated Blue-Green solutions on the urban ecosystem services
