Art Foundation Courses – essential to do this before some very prestigious art degree courses and also a chance to experience and build on different areas of art before specialising in a degree A few students returned to college for a third year. This is only agreed in exceptional circumstances. Most students who ask are not allowed to return for a third year.

Always more in work than not over the past 3 years and and less seeking in in 2012 Final figures are complied in October. When did students start looking for work? Did they have a break after exams? Things may be different now. We don’t know how many got brand new full time jobs and how many just continued in existing part time jobs, maybe increasing their hours.

Difficult to tell exactly what they are doing! ‘Foot in the door’ jobs – I’ll get experience working at a low level for this employer and hope to be able to progress Jobs with a set career path eg Royal Navy, apprenticeships Good for experience jobs – eg working in care and support work to gain experience to progress into a specific NHS career later on Any job has value in terms of income and skills gained. Even a paper round!

Find job vacancies that may suit the following students… Abdul – Favourite subject Law. Would love to work in any aspect of law, particularly for a solicitors but also enjoyed college trips to the courts. He’s most interested in criminal law. He lives in Chadderton and will work in Oldham, Rochdale or Central Manchester. Holly - Favourite subjects Psychology and Health and Social Care. Wants to work directly with adults or children who need support for physical or learning disabilities. She helps look after her brother who has disabilities so she’s keen to work within 30 minutes of Shaw if possible. Nathan – Favourite subject ICT. Would be happy doing any job that involves sitting at a computer but would ideally like to work in managing networks or on a help desk. He lives in Royton and would like to work as close to home as possible. Fatima – Wants to become an accountant. She has never studied accounting, finance or business and has no work experience. She is happy to travel within Rochdale, Oldham, Ashton or Central Manchester.
