9. Employment references. The more recent bosses are the most important ones. Associate references. This can include youth group leader, peer volunteer, co-workers, but be cautious of their appropriateness and professionalism. Typically older, wiser, and more experienced than you, who would know your working abilities. Educational references. Recent students should ask previous educators. And highly specialized careers like Medicine, Science, the Law, etc… these are careers where your intellectual background and training are always of interest. Community figures. Think of someone who can vouch for you as a person. A friend or next door neighbor is ok. But a well-known local figure is better. Try to think of anyone you know who has some sort of standing in the community.
