2. Under the U.S. Constitution,
Some powers belong to the federal government and
Some powers belong to the states.

3. Only the federal government can
print money,

4. declare war on other countries,

5. make treaties, and

6. organize and arm military forces.

7. Only the states (not the federal government) can
operate schools,

8. provide police protection,

9. provide fire safety,

10. give a driver’s license, and

11. approve zoning and land use.

12. The President of the United States leads the federal government.

14. A governor leads each state in the United States.
