Mothers Day

INTERVIEWS
3
Three possible responses to Mother’s Day: “I don’t care” “I care too much” “I will do what the Bible says”
4
A culture or individual that says “I don’t care” There is a generation that curses its father, And does not bless its mother. There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. There is a generation — oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. Prov 30:11-13
5
Ezekiel 22:6-7 6 "Look, the princes of Israel: each one has used his power to shed blood in you. 7 In you they have made light of father and mother; in your midst they have oppressed the stranger; in you they have mistreated the fatherless and the widow.

“Child you are mine!”
9
Mothers Day God’s attitude towards us forms the basis of our attitude… towards Him towards our parents towards our children towards ourselves

Mothers Day
11
Prov 20:20 20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness. Ex 20:12 12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the L ORD your God is giving you.
12
Lev 19:3 3 'Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the L ORD your God. Deut 5:16 16 'Honor your father and your mother, as the L ORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the L ORD your God is giving you.
13
A culture or individual that says “I care too much” Luke 9:57 - 62 57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59 He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
14
60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
15
Matt 12:47-13:1 "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?“ And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."
16
Matt 10:34-38 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.‘ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
17
Luke 11:27.28 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it
18
What does the bible say about this? : Seeing things from God’s perspective always brings peace: GOD”S HIERARCHY OF AUTHORITY God is Supreme – His Kingdom, His Will, His Word, His Name, His Glory Our Earthly Authorities Spiritual /Heavenly identity as children of God
19
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name Ps 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the L ORD will take care of me. Ps 131:2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
20
Isaiah 54:1 - 5 “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the L ORD. “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.
21
For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband— the L ORD Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

1 Thess 2:6-8 My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you. Gal 4:19..But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. 1 Thess 2:6-8
23
If my Spiritual identity matters more than my social identity then the following statements are true: No matter what type of mother I had/ have I choose to honor her because I was a child of God first before all this happened to me Even if I was forsaken by my mother, I will not be forsaken by my Heavenly Father No matter what type of mother I have been in the past, I can trust God for Grace for unconditional love every day because I am a child of God before I became a parent
24
No matter how hopeless my chances of having children or being a physical mother to anyone, I can be a spiritual mother to many Even if I had a broken family growing up, I was a part of God’s family because He chose me before the foundations of the earth.I have many brothers and sisters in Christ. Every time I choose to follow God and obey His will for my life, I am like a brother, sister, mother, father to Jesus
