2. A FEW FACTS ABOUT THE PROGRAMME MoU between Romania and Norway signed 20.3.12 Available project funding : EUR 22 mill. (approx.). Grants for co-financing of projects in Romania. Main target group: Private sector. Eligible applicants: Normally, legal entities in Romania. Norwegian entites, normally as project partners. Partnership projects will be encouraged. 3. OVERALL OBJECTIVE - NORWAY GRANTS Contribute to cohesion in the European Economic Area (EEA) by making available funds for economic and social development in Romania. Increase the bilateral relations between Romania and Norway. Part of European Economic Area Agreement (EEA Agreement). Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA

4. BILATERAL RELATIONS Increased cooperation, mutual knowledge and understanding between Romania and Norway (goal) Funds available on: National level – National Focal Point (resp.) 18. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Measures taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the shipping sector Strengthened capacity of relevant authorities to implement climate change-related policy elements Increased awareness of and education in how to reduce emissions from ships

WHAT COULD BE FUNDED – examples Initiatives to promote new and more environmentally friendly solutions for the maritime sector; - better design, machinery and surface treatment at shipyards that will result in reduced emissions Capacity-building for national authorities and inspectiorates to implemenet EU Maritime policy and IMO standards

20. MORE EXAMPLES Dissemination and planning of energy efficiency measures in ships’ operations (such as the IMO energy efficiency index) Application of systematic environmental management systems on board ships, including indicators, targets and monitoring systems
