A FEW FACTS ABOUT THE PROGRAMME MoU between Romania and Norway signed 20.3.12 Available project funding : EUR 22 mill. (approx.). Grants for co-financing of projects in Romania. Main target group: Private sector. Eligible applicants: Normally, legal entities in Romania. Norwegian entites, normally as project partners. Partnership projects will be encouraged. Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA

OVERALL OBJECTIVE - NORWAY GRANTS Contribute to cohesion in the European Economic Area (EEA) by making available funds for economic and social development in Romania. Increase the bilateral relations between Romania and Norway. Part of European Economic Area Agreement (EEA Agreement). Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA

BILATERAL RELATIONS Increased cooperation, mutual knowledge and understanding between Romania and Norway (goal) Funds available on: National level – National Focal Point (resp.) Programme level – Innovation Norway (resp.) WHAT TYPE OF PARTNERSHIPS ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN THE GREEN INDUSTRY INNOVATION PROGRAMME Business partnerships Implement joint projects – work for joint results Find common ground for extending cooperation beyond the project period Partnerhsip Agreement /define partner’s contribution Partners costs will be funded by the project in the same way as for the project promoter Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE Increased competitiveness of green enterprises, greening of existing industries, green innovation and green entrepreneurship. COORDINATING BODIES – ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (I) Innovation Norway is the Programme Operator Full responsibility for the preparation and implemention of the programme Call for Project Proposal(s) Final decision on project selection Sign Project Contracts with successful applicants Monitoring, financial control, auditing Payments directly to Project Promoters (and Partners if relevant) Programme evaluation and publicity Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA

FUNDING 15 Mill. Euros – for co-financing of projects First call for money: End 2012/beginning2013 Last date for eligibility of costs: April 2016 PROGRAMME AREA OBJECTIVE Reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants from the maritime sector

EXPECTED OUTCOMES Measures taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the shipping sector Strengthened capacity of relevant authorities to implement climate change-related policy elements Increased awareness of and education in how to reduce emissions from ships

WHAT COULD BE FUNDED – examples Initiatives to promote new and more environmentally friendly solutions for the maritime sector; - better design, machinery and surface treatment at shipyards that will result in reduced emissions Capacity-building for national authorities and inspectiorates to implemenet EU Maritime policy and IMO standards

MORE EXAMPLES Dissemination and planning of energy efficiency measures in ships’ operations (such as the IMO energy efficiency index) Application of systematic environmental management systems on board ships, including indicators, targets and monitoring systems

TARGET GROUPS (tentative) Private sector – priority Universities – possibly Suiable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s) PROGRAMME AREA SPECIFICITIES Might be suitable for involvement of the international Maritime Organisation (IMO)
