Assessment, Screening and Progress Monitoring made Easy! a tool for every tier
2
Progress made easy for RTI Curriculum-Based Measurement Universal Screening/Benchmarking Progress Monitoring Grades K–8 Reading and Mathematics Approved Progress Monitoring Tool by National Center on RTI
3
Response to Intervention Tier 1 - easyCBM Universal screening or benchmarking – fall, winter, and spring Class/Building/System Snapshot Identify “at-risk” for Tier 2 Focus on core curriculum Differentiated Instruction
4
Response to Intervention Tier 2 - easyCBM Progress monitoring Rate of growth data Non-responders considered for Tier 3 Targeted Groups and intervention
5
Response to Intervention Tier 3 - easyCBM Progress monitoring essential Evaluate the impact of interventions Enhance the rate of student learning Intensive individualized intervention Diagnostic – processing assessment Referral for Special Ed
6
History University of Oregon, College of Education Behavioral Research & Teaching (BRT) Development started in January 2006, with a federal grant for a Model Demonstration Project on Progress Monitoring in Early Literacy in a Response to Intervention Framework
7
Alternate forms are directly comparable Developed using Item Response Theory (IRT) Teacher Developed! Why…. If not directly comparable, there is no meaningful interpretation available.
8
Why…. Universal design – access for as many students as possible – Adjustable font size – Audio for math – Hover features – Limited language requirements in math Built to motivate students through the assessments
9
Assessments: Alignment Mathematics – currently based on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Curriculum Focal Point Standards in Mathematics Alignment to Common Core Standards in development Reading – based on the 'Big Five' constructs of reading reported in the 2000 National Reading Panel report
10
Assessments: Reading Early Literacy – Phoneme Segmenting, Letter Names, Letter Sounds Fluency – Word Reading Fluency, Passage Reading Fluency Comprehension Vocabulary

Computer Administered Item-level data Minimal data entry Minimize human error Real-time access Instant feedback for students
16
Basics Multiple Levels of Access – Administrator – District – Building – Teacher
17
District Level Benchmark reports – Entire District – Building – Classroom Group reports Individual Student reports
18
Set District Parameters Customize your “Risk Rating” based upon student population and available resources
19
Building Level: Manage Teacher Setup/Reports Benchmark Reports – By grade – Risk Level Risk Analysis – By School or Teacher – Numbers or Percentage
20
Classroom Level Group Students – Any grouping – intervention, period, Tier II, etc – Teacher types in name Temporarily add a new student Assign measures to students
21
Reports
22
Group Reports Provide information helpful for grouping students and insight into the item types on which they need more work
23
Group Report Item Analysis It informs teachers of the specific assessment objective for each item on the test and lists the items students found easiest to those students found most challenging. * Teachers can use this information to help guide their decision-making in terms of what areas to focus on instructionally.
24
Group Report Student List At bottom of group report allows teacher to see individual student graph or the actual student assessment.
25
Group Report Multi-Student Progress Monitoring This graph will show up for groups with 10 students or fewer, once you've selected a measure. Provides a quick snapshot of how instructional groups are performing as a whole.
26
Reporting Functions Identification of students at risk Organization of students into manageable skill groups Progress monitoring of groups of students Diagnostic displays of errors Target aim lines for improvement Movement of students across instructional tiers.
27
Interventions
28
Individual Reports Optimize resources by continuing with proven interventions. Individual Report
29
easyCBM Provides Benchmark assessments Full access to progress monitoring assessments Reading & Math – Grades K-8 System-level use Team access Computer Administration Multi Level Reporting Class/Bldg./Syst. group performance
