Entitlements Inquiry Children and young people tell us they don’t always get what they are supposed to get by law (entitlements) Sometimes they don’t know what they are entitled to I didn’t know I was supposed to get money for going to university Sometimes, my local authority hasn’t given me what I’m entitled to until I complained and got help from an advocate. Before I came to the Children in Care Council I didn’t know loads of things I know now

4. What do you do with what we tell you? We want to tell people in power, like MP’s and Lords, what you tell us. We promise: Not tell anyone your name / area if you don’t want us to To tell others about things your area does well to help children and young people know their entitlements To get you details of an advocate in your area if you need help to get what you are supposed to

6. You must have a care plan that says what your needs are now, what will be done to meet those needs and what your plans are for the future. Left for Law Right for Lie Looked after children

15. If you’re in higher education, you are responsible for finding somewhere to stay during the holidays. Care leavers
