1853 Antoni Gaudí was born on June 25, 1852. He was born in the province of Tarragona in southern Catalonia. His full birth name is Antoni Plàcid Guillem Gaudí i Cornet. His parents were Francesc Gaudí Serra and Antónia Cornet Bertran and they both came from families of coppersmiths. Antoni Gaud í ’s early life Antoni Gaud í was the youngest of 5 children. All but one of his siblings died in childhood. Gaud í was a sick child and as a result he did not play much with other children. Instead of playing he took walks and observed the countryside. 1873 In 1873 Antoni Gaud í went to school for architecture. He went to school at Escola Tecnica Superior d’Arquitectura in Barcelona. Gaud í went from 1873 to 1877. Finally, after five years Antoni Gaud í got the title of architect in 1878. http://www.blurtit.com/q531407.html

1877 In 1877 Antoni Gaud í built the Casa Batllό. The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos which means the house of bones. It has a skeletal organic quality and the outside looks like it is made from skulls and bones. The building was remodeled in 1904 to 1906. The building was designed by Gaud í for Josep Batlló, a wealthy aristocrat, as an upmarket home. 1883 In 1883 Antoni Gaudí started to build his creation of La Sagrada Família in Barcelona at the age of 31. From then on Antoni Gaudí spent most of his time working on this eccentric church. 1900 In 1900 Antoni Gaudí designed the Park Gϋell, which is also located in Barcelona. The Park Gϋell was composed to bring peace and clam that one would except from a park. 1906 In 1906 Antoni Gaud í started to work on his creation of the Casa Milá. The Casa Milá is also known as La Pedrera, which means The Quarry. It was built for Rosario Segimon and Pere Milá who were a wealthy couple. The building was officially completed in 1912. Casa Milà was in poor condition in the early 1980s. It had been painted a dreary brown and many of its interior color schemes had been abandoned, but it has since been restored and many of the original colors revived. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casa_Mil%C3%A0

1926 On June 7, 1926 Antoni Gaud í was hit/ run over by a tram. Since he looked very dirty and unclean many cab drivers refused to pick him up in fear that he wouldn’t pay the fare. He was eventually taken to a paupers’ hospital in Barcelona. No one knew who he was because he spent all of his time hidden away working. His friends found him the next day. His friends tried to take Gaud í to a nicer hospital, he refused and said “ I belong here among the poor.” Antoni Gaud í died three days later on June 10, 1926. He died of the age of 73.
