Appropriate re-processing of instruments and equipment in the surgery Use instrument sink in surgery for cleaning. Remove gross deposits as soon as possible. Instruments MUST be maintained properly and discarded when corroded & worn.

Preparation of Items In the re-processing area Cleaning - The first step. Disassemble. Rinse, dry, inspect. Manual or mechanical cleaning. The process should be documented in the clinic work procedures manual.

Removal of gross deposits i- Use of dry wipe at chair-side to remove dental materials from instruments before materials harden. Ii- Flush with lukewarm water in instrument sink to remove blood and other debris. Iii- Use of suitable brushes for removal of debris in surgery - Firm brush with nylon bristles. Iv- Use of heavy duty gloves for cleaning of gross debris can be either latex or silicon if latex sensitivity is a problem.
