www.fedarene.org Energy Efficiency project ECCC – European Citizens Climate Cup (September 2010 to August 2013 - IEE) www.theclimatecup.euwww.theclimatecup.eu competition of 8,400 households within and between countries to achieve the highest energy savings. campaign cooperates with media, utilities, municipalities, tenant, owner, consumer associations, property managers, housing companies, real estate portals, producers and wholesalers. households use a web tool for their energy management: collects and assesses data of meter readings and energy bills. Households receive emails and newsletters. Lessons learned Online monitoring tools show the impact of the measures taken in real-time and help householders to save energy by direct feedback. Communication activities including lotteries with gifted energy devices are needed to convince householders to register and stay interested during the whole the campaign (1 year) - as entering their consumption data takes time. Social media are effective in involving citizens
