3 Overview of the CSFC The CSFC is an independent, student run entity reporting ultimately to the Office of the President and the Board of Trustees. Our goal is to empower students and the Hendrix community to invest in creating a more sustainable and environmentally responsible campus by funding projects and capital expenditures that help reduce our environmental impact. Back

4 Committee Meetings At least four per year, advertised on Hendrix.edu/CSFC. Open to the entire Hendrix community. Review Project Applications, suggestions, and coordinate sustainability issues among stakeholders. Back

5 Committee Membership The Environmental Concerns Committee Chair. One additional member of the ECC selected by the ECC Chair. The President of the Hendrix Garden Club. Three students selected by the Chair with consent of the Committee. The Chair of the Environmental Studies Department. The Vice President for Business and Director of Facilities Management. The Executive Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. The Executive Director of Culinary Services. The Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Sustainability Officer. Within the CSFC, the ECC Chair is the CSFC Chair unless the ECC Chair appoints someone else. There is also an appointed CSFC Treasurer, Secretary, and Advisor. Back

6 Funding Sources Guaranteed Funding: $20 per student, per semester. Donations from the Hendrix community. Grant funding. 5% from paid from savings arrangements and energy performance contracts. Back

7 Funding Guidelines Projects That Can Receive Funding. Projects the CSFC Cannot Fund. Back

8 Projects That Can Receive Funding Follow guidelines set forth in the CSFC Bylaws. Are related to sustainability and conservation broadly construed. Benefit the Hendrix community directly and substantially. Can be achievable and attainable for the applicant to supervise through to completion. Back

9 Projects the CSFC Cannot Fund Attendance at most conferences. Speakers. Projects that should be funded through other departments. Monetary contributions. Subscriptions to organizations. Salary or overhead. Investments. Budgets of clubs or existing departments. Back

10 Project Proposal Process Project Suggestions Projects Applications Under $2500 Projects Applications Over $2500 Project Application Decision Back

11 Project Suggestions Anyone with a potential project, but who is not interested in writing a Project Application. Can use form at Hendrix.edu/CSFC to submit their suggestion. Another Hendrix community member may write a Project Application to pursue the project, though there is no guarantee of this. Back

12 Projects Applications Under $2500 Must complete Project Application. Project Application can be submitted at any time and will be reviewed at next CSFC meeting. Applicant is responsible for carrying out the project, if funded. Funding Decisions. Back

13 Projects Applications Over $2500 Must complete Project Application. Project Application must be submitted before October 1 st, February 1 st, or April 1 st for consideration. Late applications are reviewed after the next deadline. Applicant is responsible for carrying out the project, if funded. Funding decisions. Back

14 Project Application Decision Approve Decline Defer Back

15 Approve Notified following the CSFC meeting. Assigned an application coordinator on the CSFC to assist in implementation of the project. Applicant must submit Project Status Report once per semester. Once project is complete, applicant must submit a final Project Status Report and a Project Completion Report. Back

16 Decline Notified following the CSFC meeting. The CSFC will notify the applicant of the major issues with the application and how they can be resolved. Declined applications may be re-submitted only if all issues are addressed. A declined application may be appealed once. Back

17 Defer Notified following the CSFC meeting. Either the CSFC needs more time to consider the application or needs more information from the applicant. If the latter, the applicant must submit the information before the next CSFC meeting. Deferred applications are automatically re- considered at the next CSFC meeting. Back
