tentative timeline

in this meeting we will focus on selected Topics from two (2) Work Programmes – European Research Infrastructures (from Excellence Science) – Information & Communication Technologies (from LEIT) they will serve as the pool from which we will chose Challenges to work with this talk: to give you a very brief intro to the selected Topics [not to discuss, just to inform]
15
Draft 18 September 2013
16
scientific data framework
17
relevant topics
19
INFRADEV 1-2014: Design Studies
23
Deadline: September 2 nd, 2014 design study for an e-infrastructure on food science(s)? – leading to a more permanent ESFRI structure (legal entity etc) several ESFRI e-infrastructures on plant science, forestry, etc – not sure if a food science proposal has been tried in the past – would be very relevant as a topic to other INFRA challenges as well (could mean that someone is already working on it) could be an interesting next step for the sustainability of agINFRA – if not subsumed by LifeWatch – if not continued as a Community data service proposal (not in this WP version though!) reflection & thoughts
24
EINFRA 1-2014: Big research data
27
Deadline: September 2 nd, 2014 topic (a) seems like potentially relevant I assume that only one project will be selected: big players will come out to play (EUDAT etc.) interesting, if we can convince that agriculture can be one of the targeted communities build on legacy of agINFRA reflection & thoughts
28
EINFRA 2-2014: eInfra for Open Access
33
Deadline: April 15 th, 2014 only one project will be selected: big players will come out to play (OpenAIRE etc.) interesting, if we can convince that agriculture is one of the core themes (where principal thematic repositories participate) build on legacy of agINFRA, VOA3R and AGRIS that created a thematic network of repositories reflection & thoughts
34
INFRASUPP 6-2014: International
38
Deadline: September 2 nd, 2014 interesting to link agINFRA with relevant infrastructures in USA, Canada, Russia, Australia, New Zealand – are there such infrastructures in these regions? – do we know contact people there? – who should lead such a CSA? reflection & thoughts
39
INFRASUPP 4-2015: Professions & skills
42
Deadline: January 1 st, 2015 very relevant to – Research Data Management interests – Capacity Building activities of all key stakeholders & relevant training programmes possibly only one small project of 2M to be funded needs good representation of key partners – plus a number of thematic pilots (such as agriculture) partnerships, communities and core curricula may be developed earlier than 2015 – e.g. in agINFRA & SemaGrow we will develop pilot curricula and training – e.g. UAH could pilot an online course reflection & thoughts
44
ICT LEIT WP - relevant topics
45
ICT 13 – 2014: Web entrepreneurship
48
Deadline: April 23 rd, 2014 Explore if thematic projects (or themes into projects) can be proposed Aim at a CSA that will help the creation and networking of start ups on agricultural data-powered apps/tech – link them to all the stakeholders of the agriculture/food value chain – help them understand challenges of the industries – connect them to potential customers reflection & thoughts
49
ICT 15 – 2014: Big Data Innovation & take-up
53
Deadline: April 23 rd, 2014 Collaborative projects in (a) – propose a pan-European open agriculture data incubator based on pilot activities of agINFRA & Agro-Know CSA for (b) – serve as a concrete agricultural and/or educational case study for the Big Data Aggregator Integrator reflection & thoughts
54
ICT 16 - 2015: Big Data - Research
58
Deadline: January 20 th, 2015 interesting industry-focused campaigns & challenges – to run pilot ones within agINFRA to serve as demonstrators to link to real, current societal challenges that can be backed up with open data see examples such as the Big Data Hackathon of London – http://bigdatahackathon.azurewebsites.net http://bigdatahackathon.azurewebsites.net – take advantage of Agro-Know & Data Science London collaboration reflection & thoughts
59
ICT 17 – 2014: Cracking language barrier
62
Deadline: April 23 rd, 2014 Focus particularly in pan-European & multilingual online services – textual data aggregators like GLN, AGRIS, … – online services like Organic.Edunet, openAGRIS, Org.ePrints, … Build on lessons learnt from Organic.Lingua PSP pilot – Especially recommendations during & after reviews – Use good language technology partners like CELI reflection & thoughts
63
Thank you – to be continued during brainstorming sessions!

supplementary material & previous versions
65
Topic 5: Community data services
69
OurFood proposal? – based on agINFRA practices & guidelines – using simpler & more modern infrastructure and technology Will be in 2015 – but is the main call/topic under which our agricultural data interoperability efforts may be aligned paving the way towards an agricultural research e- infrastructure (ERIC)? – http://ec.europa.eu/research/infrastructures/index_en.cfm http://ec.europa.eu/research/infrastructures/index_en.cfm reflection & thoughts
