Location Coniferous Forests cover approximately 15% of the Earths surface. Earth’s large forests of coniferous extend mostly over the Northern Hemisphere,across North America,Europe,and Asia.

Location Coniferous forests are located South of the tundra, but north of the Temperate Deciduous Forests, and Temperate Grasslands.

Landscape The Agassiz lowlands cover a flat poorly drain portion of Glacial lake Agassiz. Coniferous forests often cover mountains. Trees are tall and narrow, so snow will slide off the branches without breaking them.

Plants/Animals Scorpion These ancient animals have been on Earth for over 400 million years (before the time of the dinosaurs).

Plants /Animals Eastern Milk Snake For this species of snake there is usually a “y’” or a “v’ mark on the head or neck region. It received it’s name from the belief that it would actually milk cows.

Plants/Animals Fern-ferns have been with us for more than 300 million years! The “seeds” of the ferns and fern allies are called Spores. Ferns drop millions, oftentimes billions of spores during their lifetime but very few ever land in a spot suitable for groth.

Fun Facts The Coniferous Forest is probably the worlds largest land biome Coniferous means cone bearing or coming from the cones. The white powder from the aspen tree can be used as deodorant.
