VERSION 7 What’s to Come?

Workflow – Lifecycle Definition  Ability to define custom Lifecycles NEW BEING WORKED IN REVIEW WAITING FOR APPROVAL APPROVED ON HOLD REJECTED

Workflow – Services  You can select different services for each stage  Item Level Auditing  Records changes to items into an audit log  Ability to search log reports to see what changes were made by who  Electronic Signatures  Enables commands to require a signature for the command to be completed  Electronic Signatures are performed by entering user password

Workflow – Version Control  Allows a command to perform snapshots or checkpoints of the item when the command is run  When Item Versioning is enabled there are two additional options available:  Deleted Items Bin – provides a holding area for deleted objects from where they can be recovered  Require New Version for Checkpointed Items – when selected, the project will require the user to run the New Version command before they can make changed to checkpointed items  This item used to be present on the Project Setup home page under the section “Versioning”

Workflow – Privileges  The Access section allows more control over who has access to a project or object when it is in a certain stage or state

Workflow – Commands  Commands section allows you to define what life cycle actions can be done to a project when it is in a particular stage  For example, if a project is in the Beta stage, the commands available would likely include Advance to Production followed by Start Second Beta  Commands that do not change the project’s stage can also be defined  For example, a command could be created to check whether a project is ready for production; this might verify that required tests have been run, report any steps that haven’t been completed, etc.

Differences – Rich Text Support  New ability to difference between Rich Text Edit fields

Differences – Object Differencing  Added ‘Audit Log’ on an object’s History page

Differencing – Derivative Support  Differencing Between Derivatives

Differencing – Link Support

Change Request – Document Definition

Formats Include: CR Form – This is the same content as the CR Form cover page, but for use in a section. Change Items – This shows the items that are currently associated with the Change Request (but may or may not have any differences). Change Summary – This is a log of all changes that have been made as part of this change request. Preceding Change Requests – This section allows other CR documents to be identified as change requests that this request is dependent on. This feature will be utilized to construct interleaved changed requests.

Change Request – Process

Change Request – Types  Non-Interleaved – A single change request is used to modify the data within a project.  Interleaved – Change requests can be interleaved together with the order of application being defined by the interleave details.

Change Request – Incorporation and Rejection  Incorporation – Once the changes have been made and gone through the appropriate workflow process, they can be incorporated back into the project and the change request is closed.  Rejection – The other option is a change request is rejected and closed without applying any of the changes back to the project.

OLE Support  Ability to embed non-Cockpit objects into Cockpit projects  Double click to open  Save the changes and the image automatically updates

Reuse and Linking – Expanded Link Object Types  Requirements, documents and groups could be linked in V6  Tests, Voices, Risks and Mitigations can be linked in V7

Reuse and Linking – Copy Tracking  After copying an object, the Traceability page shows the originating point of the copied object  Works within a project or between projects

Reuse and Linking – Derivative Project Creation  Ability to create derivatives of projects then show differences between the two Project A Derivative 1 DERIVATIVE SHOW DIFFERENCE

Reuse and Linking – Derivative Rerouting  New ability to difference between derivatives Project A Derivative 1 DERIVATIVE SHOW DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DERIVATIVES Derivative 2 DERIVATIVE

Customizing – New Filter and Group by Wizards  Create Custom Filters and Groups using a Wizard

Customizing – Project Level  You now have the option to create customizations directly from the Project  Can create new definitions directly from the Details page of a section by selecting ‘Create New’  Can edit current customizations from the Details page of a section by selecting ‘Edit’

Customizing – Organization Level  Customizations are organized by project, product line and organization

Fault Tree Analysis  Fault Tree Analysis is now available for Risks

New Rich Text Editor  EditLive!  Improved usability  Improved table editing  Handles clipboard copies better

Action Items – Import/Export With Project  Action Items are now included as part of the project Export  Action Items have versioning and auditing  Action Items can have their own workflow

Organizations – Creation and Definition  Manage multiple projects for different products in one location  Can organize into different Organizations (folders) and Product Lines (blue folders)  Projects can be created from the Organizations page as well

Organizations – Primary Assignments  Can assign new projects to a Primary Organization  Primary Organization is shown on the project home page

Organizations – Privilege Inheritance  Organizations have their own members and groups  Organization members automatically get view access to a project  Organizations can have administrators who can create and manage users within the organization
