Horatio Alger is best known for writing juvenile novels about impoverished young boys who rise above their humble beginnings through determination, courage, and honesty to become self-made men. Basically, by leading exemplary lives, struggling valiantly against poverty and adversity, Alger’s protagonists gain honor, stability, and ultimately realize the “American Dream.”
