If You Know Their Name, Use It ◦ "Hi Bob, it’s a pleasure to meet you” The Most Important Aspect Of This Portion Of The Interview Is Energy And A Friendly And Engaging Demeanor ◦ People will take 90% less ability for 10% more attitude Know the Current Headline News ◦ You Need To Know Your Industry News

11
You have two minutes to respond ◦ 1 Or 2 Minutes may not be enough to cover everything, but unless you are engaging, you won’t keep anyone’s attention for more than 2 minutes… ◦ Have a 2 minute version, and another where you can add 1-2 minutes on top if the interviewer seems engaged Start With A Brief Personal Review ◦ 30 seconds is okay, do NOT Go Over A Minute If You Are A Recent College Graduate ◦ You can spend up to 1 minute discussing Your academic experiences ◦ You can briefly touch on high school, but focus mainly on college The Remaining Time, Review Your Professional History ◦ Highlight Your Goals And Accomplishments ◦ It’s Ok To Skip A Job - If Not Critical - To Make Your Points
12
Pick Your Accomplishments In Advance ◦ Pick 3-5 accomplishments that are tailored to the opportunity ◦ Choose wisely and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE Avoid Chronologies At All Costs ◦ Don’t give a play-by- play, it will sound awful ◦ Don’t rehash your resume. (sound like cover letter advice?) Organize The Core Of Your Answer Around Concepts ◦ Use a simple outline to communicate clearly the key drivers of your behavior
13
Don’t try this at the office!
14
This Is What It Should Sound Like: ◦ “Bob, I want an offer, and here's why. When I look at my opportunities, my key criteria will be quality of opportunity, culture fit, and quality of people. When I analyze those factors at Procter, I see a perfect fit.” Prepare It Beforehand ◦ You Need Two Or Three Reasons Why You Want To Work There Close At The End Of The Interview ◦ It’s Okay To Close As You’re Walking Out The Door
