6
FOCUSED REPORTING Eliminate the distracting data like too many alert notes, 2000 page reports, etc. Eliminate un-necessary reporting. Notify ME when I need to know something.
7
DIY REPORTING TOOLS Choose your first project - ideally a small step first successes should be in a few weeks Discuss exactly where the data is entered (the software screen), who enters it, does it stay the same or change, if changes when & who Is it free text or specific

FOCUSED REPORTING Old Way Run reports monthly for Days in A/R per provider, per payer, etc. Run reports everyday for pre-cert to look for Add on patients Plot on a graph month after month
16
FOCUSED REPORTING New Way: A report in your email box on the 5 th of the month with rolling averages ranked by degree of change A report that refreshes every 15 minutes that highlights what needs to be one based on the date of the event, payer and type of event

LAY THE GROUND RULES Does the report need to refresh on its own? And how current will the report data be? What if different users need to change the data’s view? Will you have to re-run the report every time you change a filter Will end users be able to double click” for transactional detail?
34
RETURN ON INVESTMENT Less Staff Time on Tasks Error proofing (i.e. pre-cert or appeals) Some are soft costs and are immeasurable but important * Less frustration * Trust that data is correct * Increase adoption of software
35
SUCCESSFUL ROLL OUT Roll out needs a marketing plan. Market what your project is doing to deliver value to the organization.
36
SUCCESSFUL ROLL OUT Involve some end-users in the sessions that identify the issue (problems) being solved and the conceptualizing of new or better BI tools. You can’t over DISCSUSS!
37
IN SUMMARY You can get the data you want and use it in a way that only your practice needs to use it Typical metrics are easier to get to and access to multiple data sources, trending and refreshing is easy and provides much more information than ever before The ROI is nearly limitless if you put the information to work for your business
