3 Background checks and clearances may be required of you in order to complete volunteer work and your final internship. It is important that you maintain a clean record in order to secure clearances. Failure to do so can affect your ability to graduate. 4 Quick Facts About the Internship When: Your internship is the final requirement that must be completed before graduation. All coursework for the RHS major and any minors must be completed before scheduling your internship In your final semester. Length: Fall and Spring internships require 600 hours (15 weeks) Summer internships require 520 hours (13 weeks) Location: Students can complete their internship inside or outside of Pennsylvania. Students are encouraged to find the best site for them in terms of location and services provided. 5 Finding an Internship Site Personal Interests* Your internship should take place in an RHS agency/ facility that matches your area of interest and future career goals. Select an internship consistent with your minors and/or special interest areas. Internship Database Students should identify several possible internship sites before making their final selection. Information on over 300 sites RHS students have used over the years can be found on the Internship DatabaseInternship Database Faculty Advisor After interviewing at several sites (it is recommended that you visit at least three), students should discuss the pros and cons of each site with their faculty advisor before making a final decision *Career Services is also available to help with exploring career options, resume building, mock interviews etc.Career Services

7 Internship Application Deadlines Spring Internship: November 1 st Deadline Summer Internship: April 1 st Deadline Fall Internship: July 1 st Deadline Students who do not submit the Internship Application by the deadline will receive a full letter grade deduction for their internship.
