3 What is Point of Care Testing?
Medical Laboratory Testing that is performed at or near the site of the patient. (At the patient’s bedside or in a physician office laboratory)

4 What is a laboratory test?
Any test that is performed on a human specimen for the purpose of diagnosing, treating or monitoring a patient All laboratory tests are regulated by the federal government and the state of New Jersey Tests are categorized and regulated according to how complex the test

Ensures patient safety and quality of healthcare through: Maintaining and monitoring comprehensive quality control, quality assurance and proficiency programs in accordance with all federal and state regulations Inspect all practices and provide remediation for deficiencies Providing technical, scientific and management oversight for all POCT Orients and trains all personnel to ensure ongoing competency Communicates with federal and state agencies and other health professionals
