What is energy? Energy is the ability to do work. Energy can come in many form.

 Potential Energy  Gravitational Energy  Chemical Energy  Elastic Energy  Kinetic Energy  Sound Energy  Heat Energy  Light Energy

It is a stored energy. Gravitational It is a stored of the gravity. If a object falls, it will have an impact. If it falls at a greater height, it will have a larger impact. Chemical A battery is a good example of a chemical potential energy. If the energy is depleted all the way, there will no more chemical energy inside the battery. Same goes for the food that we eat. Elastic When an object is stretched and it is being released at a greater distance, the further the object that is being released will go.

It is a moving energy. When a car is moving, meaning to say that the car possesses kinetic energy the most. The potential energy possesses is the least. Whenever a car is stopping, the kinetic energy possesses is the least. The potential energy possesses is the most.

The noise that we usually make such as banging the table, beating of the drum is known as sound energy. This is because the noise vibrate and it is spread around the surroundings.

It is an energy that flows from a region of low temperature to a region of high temperature. In a freezing process, the heat energy in the surroundings is the least. This is because the surroundings has a cooler temperature. In a melting process, the heat energy in the surroundings is the most. This is because the surroundings has a warmer temperature as compared to the freezing process.

It is an energy that enable us to see. In the dark, if we were in a forest or jungle, we will required to use a torchlight to help us see in the dark. Without light, we will not be able to see. Imagine if our Earth has no light. We won’t be able to see. Plants won’t be able to photosynthesise.

Energy can only changed from one form to another. It cannot be created or destroyed. Example: When a ball is being held at a point(height),it has potential energy but no kinetic energy. When it is being released, the kinetic energy will increased and the potential energy will decreased. When it is about to reach the ground, the kinetic energy will decrease and the potential energy will increase.

The sources in Singapore are mostly non-renewable. This sources cannot be renewed or reuse. The sources has it own limit. Examples of non-renewable sources are crude oil and fossil fuels.

Some sources of energy can be used unlimited times. This is because the sources are renewable. Examples of renewable energy are solar energy, wind energy and wave energy.
