2 God’s Plan Of Salvation I. GENESIS – “Beginning” Origin of physical universe (Gen. 1). Entrance of sin into the world (Gen. 3). First promise of a Savior (Gen. 3:15). - Sin always separates man from God. Three promises to Abram: Theme of the Bible (Gen. 12:1-3). - Land of Canaan. - Nation of Abram’s seed. - All nations blessed through Abram’s seed. Concludes with 70 descendents of Abraham going into Egypt.

3 God’s Plan Of Salvation II. NATION Burning Bush - Moses called to deliver God’s People From Egypt (Ex. 3:3). - Punishment: Wander 40 years. Red Sea – Deliverance (Ex. 14). Mt. Sinai – 10 Commandments (Ex. 20). Exodus generation murmured, lusted, disobeyed (Numbers 13-14). - Punishment: That generation did not enter.

Judges – Cycles of apostasy & chastening. 1 & 2 Samuel – People demand an earthly king (1 Sam. 8). - God: “They have rejected me” (8:7). Saul, David & Solomon, first 3 kings. - Promise to establish God’s kingdom & House of God through David (2 Sam. 7:12-13).

LAND 1 & 2 Kings – Apostasy of the kings & the people. - Northern 10 tribes into Assyrian Captivity (2 Kings 17). - Southern 2 tribes into Babylonian Captivity (2 Kings 25). IV. MAJOR & MINOR PROPHETS Worked during the kings. - Foretold the coming of Jesus (Isaiah 53). - Warned of apostasy & judgment. - Foretold building a spiritual Kingdom (Dan. 2:44; Is. 2:1-4).

6 God’s Plan Of Salvation IV. MAJOR & MINOR PROPHETS - Amos 8:11 predicted a “famine” of God’s word. - Malachi (Last O.T. book) ~ 400 B.C. - Gospels (First N.T. books) 3 B.C. – 33 A.D. Return from Captivity (Ezra – Neh.) - Fervor to rebuild God’s city & temple. - Even in midst of opposition. - Corrected serious sins in their lives. After Return – digression (Several of the Minor Prophets).

Gospels - Birth of John (Mal. 4:4-6; Lk. 1:12-17, 76) - Birth of Jesus (Mic. 5:2; Mt. 2:1). - Christ’s teaching, opposition He faced, Miracles He worked… - Promise of salvation & kingdom (Mt. 16:18-19; 27:26:28). o Enter kingdom (Jn. 3:5; 4:1; Mk. 16:16). o Price for entering (Jn. 15:20). o Evidence for faith (Jn. 2030-31).

Letters (Romans – Jude) - Encourage, Warn & Correct. - God’s eternal purpose (Eph. 3:10-11). - God’s plan for unity (Eph. 4:1-6). Revelation – Encourage persecuted saints. - Signs & symbols (Rev. 1:1). - Be faithful unto death (Rev.2:10).

9 God’s Plan Of Salvation VI. PURPOSE OF THIS LESSON 1. Help you put it all in perspective. 2. Learn basics of Bible History (1 Cor. 10:6): - Sin separates from God. - God has provided a remedy at great cost & effort to Himself. - God expects our faith to be active, submitting to His will. CONCL: Recognize sin in your life (Ro.3:23). Appreciate God’s love for you. Love Him in return.
