1. An Overview Time to Start Our New Unit!

2. o Pencil/Supply Monitor o Each day you will make sure that your group has sharpened pencils, and any other supplies they need for the day. o Distribute/Turn in Checker o Each day you will make sure that everyone has the papers they need, with their names on them, etc. o Folder Grabber o Each day you will be in charge of grabbing your groups folder from the Maniac Magee binder. Literature Circles: Rules and Roles Everyone will have the chance to be each role. We will rotate weekly. You will each be assigned a number within your literature circle. I will rotate the numbers each week. It is your responsibility to know what your role is for the week.

3. o You will be put into groups and you will stay with that group for the whole unit. You are going to be challenged to work together as a unit. o If there are conflicts, the best action to take is to come talk to me. We can work within the group to resolve whatever the problem is. o Everyone is required to pull their own weight. If someone struggles, help them. 4. o Everything will be kept in the classroom in our respective folders. Nothing should be taken out of class unless you have explicit permission from me to do so. o This is going to cut down on missing work (yay!) It will also mean you must complete everything in class…no homework. o Whoever is the folder collector for the week will be in charge of grabbing it from your block’s binder. o Your folders will have everything you need in them each day. o That means I am going to be putting brainwork in them, your comprehension question sheets, your vocabulary sheets, etc. Folders

Monday Vocabulary-in lit. circles Pre-Read Read Tuesday Free Day- we will be doing other English activities on Tuesdays like spelling, grammar, etc. Wednesday Read Comprehension Questions Thursday Every other Thursday we will have discussions over the book Friday Book Related Activity Finish Questions Routine Schedule

6. o Each Monday we will have new words added to our running list in our folders. After brainwork you will get your new words and fill out your vocabulary sheets on them. o Each person will be required to do one word. After everyone is done, you will teach the rest of your group your word and they will copy it down on the back of their vocab sheet. Vocabulary
