3 Current Situation AF has more Airmen than Congress authorized 5,000 more Airmen than authorized (331,700 auth) 10,000 more Airmen than authorized in FY2012, if we don’t take action Two challenges: Size: Highest retention in 15 years at a time of national economic downturn Shape: Changing/emerging missions If unaddressed, will have mission impact
