2 Population Colombia is the third-most populous country in Latin America. During 20th century, Colombia's population was approximately 4 million. The population increased at a rate of 1.9% between 1975 and 2005, predicted to drop to 1.2% over the next decade. Colombia is projected to have a population of 50.7 million by 2015.

3 Government Structure Colombia is a Republican country. The executive branch dominates government structure in this country. The Ruling: only Congress may revise the Constitution.

4 Economics Single-unit based, with the unit of Colombian money being called the Peso. Dollar conversions- $100 Columbian Peso dollars= $0.06 United States dollars

6 Customs/Celebrations Men shake hands with direct eye contact. While shaking hands, use the appropriate greeting for the time of day: "buenos dias" (good day), "buenas tardes" (good afternoon), or "buenas noches" (good evening/night). Women often grasp forearms rather than shaking hands. Once a friendship has developed, greetings become warmer and a lot more hands on men will embrace and pat each other on the shoulder (known as an "abrazo") and women kiss once on the right cheek.
