The Printer A printer produces a paper copy of the information displayed on the monitor. A printer produces a hard copy, which means you can really touch it.
2
About the Printer A page with images takes longer to print than a regular page with just text. A computer can send data faster than a printer can accept and process the data, therefore, a printer has memory.

Laser and Ink-Jet printers A laser printer works like a photocopier to produce high-quality images on a page, but most laser printers print in black and white. An ink jet printer has a print head that sprays ink through small holes on to a page, most ink-jet printers print in color.

Ink- Jet printer Ink jet printers accept 8 ½ by 11-inch paper.Ink jet printers accept envelopes, labels and transparencies. For best printing results, make sure you buy items designed specifically for use with ink-jet printers. Most ink-jet printers produce images at a speed of 0.5 to 4 pages per minute.

The Resolution of a Printer Printer resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi). Generally, a resolution of 600 dpi is acceptable for most office documents. 1200 dpi printers are better for printing images. Resolution can also be expressed with two numbers (example: 600 x 600 dpi). These numbers describe the number of dots a printer can produce across and down in one square inch. The resolution of the printer determines the quality of the images it can produce. A higher resolution results in sharper, more detailed images.
