Write down a four digit number (example 1234) Write down the first digit (1) Write down the first two digits (12) Write down the first three digits (123) Now add these three numbers ([1 + 12 + 123] = 136) Multiply this by 9: ([9 x 136] = 1224) Add together the original four digits ([1 + 2 + 3 + 4] = 10) Add the last two results together ([1224 + 10] = 1234) The original number always comes out at the end!!
