MISSION STATEMENT We aim to develop a product which will allow the elderly to stay at home independently and healthy. 10% of over 65’s malnourished at home Losing the ability to drive, is a leading cause of malnutrition in the UK Visit shops max twice a week Stakeholder 4 gets picked up, is always ready at the door. 3.65 billion spent on malnutrition for over 65’s Vitamin deficiency is a cause of memory loss.

THE SOLUTION Make the shopping experience easier. Keep track of what’s in the kitchen and what needs to be replaced. Do so with minimal user interface as complex gadgets would not be easy for memory loss sufferers to use.

THE ANSWER Coloured mats are placed around the kitchen. Attach “The list” to the fridge. It’s that simple! When the Light beside “Milk” comes on the owner knows that there is no longer any milk in the fridge. They can even remove the magnetic board and bring it with them to the shops for maximum ease of use.

THE COMPETITION  Very expensive  Can’t be integrated into a working kitchen  Can be very technical and difficult to use

THE MAT The Mat’s size is based on the bottom of a carton of milk. This way it’ll fit into the shelf and main body of a fridge. It is coated in liquid latex in order to be both easily seen and distinguished from the other mats of the set.

THE LIST The List comes in the form of a whiteboard surface with in built LEDs. The lights correspond to the colour of the mats they match to. The list attaches magnetically to the fridge and can be removed to be taken to the shops.

THE DEMONSTRATION

THE USER FEEDBACK Due to our products not coming in on time we were unable to test out prototype on users. Feedback about design “That would be handy, especially if I could know from my phone before I go to her house” – Stakeholder 2. “Ah sure lights would be handy, save me having to put on the glasses” “If it was at a low cost I’d definitely get it” – Stakeholder 8.

Ways we see the design progressing and improving OPPORTUNITIES

Strengths  Removable  Washable  Multifunctional  Enthusiasm of group Weakness’s  Relies on habit  Battery operational  Skill level required

THE PRODUCT: MEMORY MATS We have create something; Fit for purpose Universal Easy to use Effective
