2 Part One: Donations Who? American Cancer Society What? Fundraise and Donate When? 2009-2010 Where? CA DECA Conferences (NorCal CDC, SoCal CDC, State CDC) Why? To promote one of the four points of the DECA Diamond, Civic Consciousness How? Fundraising Projects: A Dollar for Jeans, etc.

3 Part Two: Awareness Who? CA DECA Members What? Spread awareness and educate members about different organizations When? 2009-1010 Where? CA DECA Conferences (NorCal CDC, SoCal CDC, State CDC) Why? To promote one of the four points of the DECA Diamond, Civic Consciousness

4 American Cancer Society (ACS)  nationwide community- based  dedicated to eliminating cancer  research, education, advocacy and service.

5 Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)  founded in 1950  combats muscular dystrophy and diseases of the nervous system and muscular system  funding research, providing medical and community services, and educating public

6 Habitat for Humanity  international, ecumenical Christian, non-governmental, non- profit organization  devoted to building "simple, decent, and affordable" housing.  volunteer labor and are sold at no profit

7 Invisible Children  media-based, non- profit  provides secondary education to children in northern Uganda  based out of San Diego, California  has offices in Gulu, Uganda and London, England.

8 World Wildlife Fund  international non- governmental organization  working on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of the environment

9 Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation  public charity  prevent pediatric HIV infections and to eradicate pediatric AIDS  through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs

10 Make-A-Wish Foundation  non-profit organization  grants wishes to children (2.5 years to 18 years old)with life- threatening medical conditions

11 Senior Smiles  non-profit organization  trains, recruits, and educates volunteers of all ages on the needs of the elderly  pairs the volunteer with a lonely senior

12 Key Club International  oldest and largest service program for high school students  student-led organization  goal is to teach leadership through serving others

13 Interact  Rotary International’s service club  Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects  one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill

14 Ronald McDonald House  a place where the parents of children that are in a nearby hospital can stay at night for reduced or no cost

15 American Red Cross  humanitarian organization  provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education inside the United States  designated U.S. affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

16 Amnesty International  international non- governmental organization  conduct research and generate action  prevent and end grave abuses of human rights

17 Or... You can choose to promote other local organizations or any other organization you or your DECA Chapter has already been working with!
