Demonstrate appropriate critical, empathetic, appreciative, and reflective listening skills in formal and informal situation. 6. Adjust messages based on feedback. 7. 21 DEBATE III Strands and Content Standards Research Students will master advanced research skills necessary for effective argumentation and debate. Legal Debate Students will participate in legal debate. Presentation Students will master the presentation and delivery of complex arguments during debate.

22 Course Descriptions Forensics I Fulfills ½ unit of Oral Communication required for graduation No prerequisite Students will prepare for presentations delivered in a variety of formats, including debate, public address, and oral interpretation of literature Students will develop basic communication competencies

23 Forensics I Strands and Content Standards Research Students will engage in inquiry and research to prepare a foundation for communicating to various audiences. Organization Students will organize literary selections and informational text into effective oral presentations. Presentation Students will perform interpretations of literature and deliver presentations conveying concepts and ideas to a variety of audiences. Communication Competencies Students will demonstrate fundamental oral communication competencies.

24 Course Descriptions Forensics II Prerequisite: Forensics I Students will demonstrate communication skills, including vocal delivery and movement, at an intermediate level

25 Forensics II Strands and Content Standards Oral Interpretation Students will demonstrate competency in literary performance by creating varied oral interpretation presentations. Dramatic Literature Students will demonstrate competency in dramatic performance by presenting a variety of dramatic literature. Persuasion Students will synthesize information to create persuasive presentations. Intermediate Communication Skills Students will demonstrate communication skills at an intermediate level.

26 Forensics III Prerequisite: Forensics II Students will master research, organization, and presentation skills through a variety of public speaking situations Course Descriptions

27 Forensics III Strands and Content Standards Research Students will master synthesis of research to communicate literature and ideas to a variety of audiences. Organization Students will master organization of literature, informational text, theories, and concepts to communicate ideas to a variety of audiences. Presentation Students will master public interpretation of literature and presentation of complex theories to specific audiences.
