Potential or Available Target Test Areas Existing and Near Future Capabilities Potential or Available Target Test Areas Facility Suitable for low activation, shallow depth radiation damage testing Suitable for bulk sample radiation damage testing Suitable for dynamic, high intensity beam on target / window testing Off-line (non- beam) target test facilitiesSum (6 max) Fermilab ****** Radiation Damage Irradiation- Currently no facility lending itself to low energy irradiation Some areas in front of beam absorbers at 400 MeV and 120 GeV Low flux compared to near future targets Areas not currently set-up to handle sample exchange, temperature control, etc… Target single pulse testing- Possibility exists at AP-0 Target Hall for NuMI/NOvA intensity pulse (~5e13 ppp) with smaller spot size (0.2 mm sigma) Would require extraction line re-configuration (re-installation of kicker system) 4/3/13 PASI 2013 WG1 FNAL Capabilities 2
