Theory of Knowledge (ToK) Looks at our ways of knowing about language, reason, emotion and perception. It is a more abstract approach to learning and knowledge. It emphasizes reflection and self-awareness. “It encourages you to think about the nature of knowledge and to reflect on the process of learning in all areas of the diploma program” (IBO). CAS makes you a better citizen Creativity, Action and Service: It is the of the program!!! Creativity –the arts and experiences that involve creative thinking. Action – physical exertion leading to a healthy lifestyle. Service – unpaid and voluntary activities that have a learning benefit. Hester, B. 7/2011

Assessments and Examinations All of the subjects have some form of internal assessment, which may consist of papers, portfolios, orals, and/or presentations. Examinations are at the end of the senior year, and all subjects are examined. To be awarded the diploma, candidates must earn a minimum of 24 out of 45 points, earn a passing score on both the Extended Essay and ToK papers, and complete 150 or more CAS hours (50 in each area).
