What does outreach look like? Reach

What does an evangelist look like? Reach

Describe someone who reached you for Christ? ?

What do we think “outreach” looks like?

A model evangelist

Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will...” Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the other disciples said the same. Matthew 26:33,35

A model evangelist On this model... Outreach is Sporadic Segregated Self-motivated

Philippians 2:5-11 The Ultimate Outreach

“Jesus suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.” Hebrews 13:12-13 Outreach is our ongoing life because outreach is God’s eternal life “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21

If a friend said “What’s all this Trinity nonsense?”, how would you respond? When you think of “outreach” what springs to mind? Which ‘Peter’ do we often follow? What difference does it make to our outreach to know God’s outgoing nature? How does God feel about Rothely? Jesus is always going “outside the camp” what might that look like in Rothely?

Bringing people to God He did! We are! I can!

Bringing people to God He did! “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” 1 Peter 3:18

Bringing people to God He did!  How have you experienced guilt in relation to evangelism?  What’s the answer?

Bringing people to God We are! 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Bringing people to God We are! 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Bringing people to God We are! 11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Bringing people to God We are!...a royal priesthood

Bringing people to God  What do priests do?  Who are priests for?  What does it mean for St Mary’s to be a priesthood?

Bringing people to God 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Bringing people to God We are a priesthood  What does the corporate life of St Mary’s communicate?

Bringing people to God Together we are a priesthood  What do I do individually that I could do with others?  What do we do together that could be priestly?

Bringing people to God I can “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15)

Bringing people to God I can  What can I do to be prepared?  What can St Mary’s do to prepare me?

Bringing people to God He did! We are! I can!

But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,"
