Fact vs. Opinion: tips for telling the difference FACTS are truths, but OPINIONS can also be “truths,” or commonly accepted ideas Ex: Hitler was a bad person. FACTS use information that can easily be measured or proven Ex: Hitler killed over 6 million Jewish people. OPINIONS use words of judgment Example words: best, worst, pretty, ugly, nice, bad… OPINIONS can be mixed with FACTS Ex: Thousands of men died on the ugly battlefields of Europe.
