Illinois’s History The first European Settlers came along the Mississippi River in 1673. In 1804 Sac and Fox decided to sell their land (for $1,000) and move across the Mississippi River. But the tribe argued with the white people ( that’s what they called them) and said that they got Sac and Fox drunk before signing the deal. Finally in the 20th century everything got together. Back
