Get to Know One Another Group Assignment Split into groups Pick a recorder for your group Take 10 minutes to complete this assignment Generate a list of 25 things your group has in common Be Creative Make sure your list has some less obvious characteristics (You all drive a white car, you’ve all been to Disney World, You all have 2 children, etc.)

Paragraphs What is a paragraph? Central component of a paper Definition: a group of sentences that forms a unit; it is the unity and coherence of ideas among those sentences that makes a paragraph a paragraph.

Paragraph (Continued) Every paragraph in a paper should be: Unified – sentences should all refer to the main idea or thesis of the paper. Coherent – sentences should be arranged in a logical manner and should follow a definite plan for development. Well-developed – every idea discussed in the paragraph should be adequately explained and supported through evidence and details that work together to explain the paper’s controlling idea.
