3 We’ve Moved Technology Services has moved to be with the rest of the ISD* Team. As of August 12, all offices are at West Campus - an updated phone list will be in the tech folder. * Instructional Support & Development

4 The Roles within JCS Technology Facilitator ●Primary role is collaborator ●Have tech rights and help with basic troubleshooting & entering IT Direct calls ●Focus efforts on supporting teachers to build understanding of technology integration ●Duties assigned by the local administration ●Evaluated using new instrument Technology Contact ●Primary role may be teacher or TA ●Have technology rights and help with basic troubleshooting & entering IT Direct calls ●Attend ISD Informational Meetings and share information back to school ●May assist with some PD ●Duties assigned by the local administration Digital Learning Coach ●Primary role is teacher ●Focus efforts on working as a mentor and instructional coach within PLC's ●Attend DLC trainings and share information back to school ●May assist with some PD ●Not all schools had an applicant ●Benson E, Benson M, CVHS, NJH, Selma M

7 BYOD is an option Changes in the policy should be approved at the next reading ●Each school has a choice ●Need to think about PD ●Parent involvement and Understanding is a must ●Changes in pedagogy needed ●ISE - Authentication required

8 Take Home will soon be an option ●A few schools have asked that we allow take home of school issued devices. ●CIPAA regulations require that all devices provided for take home have filtering. ●We are working to have this and will continue to update you as we complete this set up.

9 Ipads ●All MClass ipads are updated - passcode is 1234. ●If your school manages its own ipads (via a MacMini), you need to have the latest profiles. Contact your technician to get these files. I will be providing them directions for assisting with updating ●If you purchase more ipads remember the AppleCare is recommended. ●Process for AppleCare is in Tech FolderTech Folder

10 Email - Human Monitoring System Gaggle will be Monitoring all email grades 3-12 ●You & Administration will be notified if a child has an offense that is concerning. ●The account will be suspended and you will have an opportunity to review Agreement with the student - we will reinstate the account upon your request ●If the student has another offense services may be terminated

11 Active Directory: Year of Transition All the High schools are now Active Directory, all Middle Schools will be complete by the end of 1st Semester. Elementary will begin in the Spring. New high schools on AD: ●You will be on Windows 7 ●Initial login password is summer. Training information and schedule. 13 What does this mean for your school? It will require that ALL issues be entered into IT Direct, or it will NOT get addressed. We will evaluate tech area school needs and address accordingly. We will try and do our best to meet the needs of ALL the schools if they will put the calls in so we will know about them. We will only be staying in a school long enough to address calls. Our initial plan is to address 3 schools minimum a day.

14 Microsoft All computers can now have Office 2010 Elementary & Middle - provide proof of training and we will open up the install for you. Home install information is available. Please share with ALL staff this is new! Anyone with a @johnston.k12.nc.us can take advantage of this opportunity.

16 Dealing with Accounts Reminders: ●You have rights to reset passwords in google (if not let us know) the account has to be in correct location- if they are not you will not see their account. ●Initial staff passwords for new staff: jcswelcome1314 (exception AD at HS) ●AD - work with Doug to get training on ADUC ●Novell - use I-manager for new account - post to bit.ly/jcsimanager to get google sync (24 hrs)I-managerbit.ly/jcsimanager

17 Dealing with Accounts ●Student Accounts same as last year ○ User: FLLL#### - last 4 of id ○ Password: FLLLMMDD - birthday ■ F - First Initial ■ L - first 3 letters of Last Name ●All emails will be @jcsnc.org ●Caution teachers about posting list of user names and/or birthday bulletin boards

18 Meetings this year ●September 3 - “Getting up to speed” will be 1st quarter meeting ●Technology Showcase October 29 (Johnston Health Medical Mall) ●November 12 - second quarter ●February 6 - third quarter ●May 8 - fourth quarter All Quarterly meetings will be at WCCC
