9 C OMMUNITY SERVICE  Refugee Health Literacy Project (CE3)  Refugee health fair in January  ESL classes, Saturday morning boys club  More info at CE3 fair  Global Links  Non-profit in Pittsburgh that donates medical supplies and textbooks to developing countries  Plan to visit the facility, help them sort materials

10 G LOBAL H EALTH R ESIDENCY S ERIES  Monday - October 21, 2013 Morning Location: 9:30AM-10:30AM Ethical Challenges and Pitfalls of Aid Work – Charity vs. Solidarity (Siamak Malek, Kathleen Hower, Mark Meyer, and Paul Larson).  Monday – October 21, 1:00PM – 3:00PM Research Ethics Panel (Michelle Lemenager, Hadar Mansour, Judi Resick, Carla Sanchez)  · 3:30PM – 5:00PM Ethical Issues in Overseas Rotations Panel (Valerie Satkoske, Erika Fink, Bernie Good, Paul Larson, Thuy Bui, Manasa Manapragada, Samantha Vogt, and Sheila Ramgopal) – a facilitated discussion of short-term clinical rotations overseas and ethical dilemmas. Faculty will share stories and lessons learned from their experiences working in resource-limited settings.  Tuesday - October 22, 2013 Location for GH Debate 3:00PM – 4:30PM Global Health Debate (GH Participants) - Should low- and middle-income countries invest in physician assistants, nurses and community health workers rather than physician training to improve delivery of service and mortality measures?  Wednesday, October 23, 2013. 10:00AM-11:00AM Global Governance and Transparency: Potential and Limitations in Development (Paul Nelson)   Thursday - October 24, 2013 Morning Location: 9:00AM-10:30AM Presentation of Health Policy Brief - each seminar participant will present a 5-minute synopsis of a GH public policy topic that he/she has researched and packaged for the chosen audience!

11 Global Health AOC  Attend a certain percentage of global health lectures  Complete a summer or scholarly project related to global health  Option to get certificate in Global Health through CGH  Dinner October 25 th, Dr. Veldkamp’s (S. Negley and Walnut)

12 Leadership opportunities  Help us plan and execute the events we’re planning, email/talk to us if you’re interested  Even if you’re not planning to go abroad, it’s a great way to build leadership skills and participate in community service activities  Learn more about global health
