What is the WorkCentre 7120/7125?
The WorkCentre 7120 was selected as Buyer’s Laboaratory “Outstanding 20 ppm A3/Ledger Color MFP” Winter 2011 The WorkCentre 7120/7125 are new A3 color MFPs that will play at the entry-point of Xerox’s A3 portfolio. They run at 20/25 ppm color and black-and-white, and comes with copy/print/network scan functionality standard. The market that the WorkCentre 7120/7125 play in is extremely competitive. In the past couple years, there has been a significant migration in the market away from the 1-10 ppm color segment (Segment 1) to the faster ppm and ppm color segments (Segments 2 &3). Despite the tough economy, activity in segments 2 & 3 of A3 color MFPs has been experiencing significant growth. This migration upwards has been caused by two trends: First, the explosive growth in A4/Desktop MFPs. We know that the primary barrier to color is the cost of color. A secondary reason why customers are not printing in color is the perceived lack of productivity when printing in color. This was true in the past when many color products had slower color speeds, most notably 4-pass engines. Customers had to sacrifice productivity by up to 75% when printing color. With the growth in A4/desktop color MFPs, customers are now able to have fast color speeds, an enterprise-coherent feature set and low desktop prices. Customers are no longer willing to sacrifice productivity just because they want to print in color or require the ability to print on A3/tabloid-size media. As a result, many customers are moving up to faster A3/Tabloid color devices. A second trend that is helping the market move upwards is the declining cost of color. As with all other technology, color printing has seen costs come down with each successive generation of technology. The economy has also contributed. We have stiff competition and everyone is fighting for the same customers. The strategy of some of our competitors such as Konica Minolta and Ricoh is to buy color market share with aggressive pricing. Color has never been more affordable which has helped drive activity to higher segments. Customers looking at entry-level A3 color MFPs tend to be more price sensitive. Many are transitioning to color for the first time or need an affordable device that is easy to deploy and manage—without an IT department—for their small to medium size business or workgroup. The WorkCentre 7120/7125 will allow you to effectively compete at the entry level with a compact, powerful, and very cost effective solution in a growing market. Designed for SMB What SMB Customers are looking for in MFPs and copiers: Image quality Value for the price User friendliness Quality/reliability Feature functionality (copy/scan/fax etc) The WorkCentre 7120/7125 have been designed specifically for small and medium size businesses (SMB). According to Infotrends, SMB “accounts for the majority of US firms. They include construction workers, hairdressers, dentists, lawyers, real estate agents, and local mom and pop retail stores. According to the US Census, roughly 6 million firms in the US have fewer than 500 employees, and 5.4 million of these have fewer than 20 employees….Just like large enterprises, the SMBs want to look credible and professional as they spread word about their business.” The SMB market provides a tremendous opportunity for yourself if you can help them navigate through their key business challenges. As we were developing the WorkCentre 7120/7125, we really focused on what our SMB customers were telling us that they wanted in a color MFP. Our SMB customers told us they wanted a device that provides: Faster color speeds and good image quality Great value and fits within the budget Advanced features that are easy to use and can be implemented without IT support, since many SMBs don’t have resources dedicated to networked devices A small footprint in order to fit in tight spaces. And of course, reliable operations We took our customers’ feedback, designed an MFP from the ground up, and it added up to the WorkCentre 7120/7125, our easiest A3 color MFPs for SMB to own. The WorkCentre 7120/7125 provide everything needed in an easy-to-own package. It has a low acquisition cost and is extremely easy to deploy. We have packed enough power into this compact device for it to be able to truly grow with customers as their needs change. Source: Xerox Customer Insight and GCR Custom Research For Internal Use Only

Fax over IP (T.38/SIP) Why Fax over IP?
Customers are transitioning from PSTN to IP environments to reduce costs Conventional fax was designed to transmit over analog PSTN & work poorly (or not at all) on IP systems Protocols used for communication over IP environments: Session Initiation Protocol (SIP): used to control communication over IP networks T.38 fax relay standard: devised to permit faxes to be transported across IP networks between existing Group 3 (G3) fax terminals. The WorkCentre 7120/7125’s Fax over IP Kit: Sends and receives faxes using the T.38 and SIP protocols Requires customers to have a SIP server or a T.38 compliant VoIP gateway: With Customer’s SIP server, enables existing phone numbers or user names to be designated for destination With VoIP gateway, enables IP fax to be transmitted to G3 fax (not IP Fax compliant) connected to a public line Without VoIP gateway or SIP server, enables IP faxes to transmit across intranet to another IP fax-compliant device Due to cost savings, many customers are transitioning their telephone networks over to IP environments to utilize IP communication systems for voice, video calls and data transmissions. Conventional fax machine were designed to transmit over analog PSTN telephone lines, and therefore work poorly, if at all, on IP systems, which have been optimized for voice data (as opposed to fax data). SIP (Session Initiation Protocol and T.38 are two protocols used for communication over IP networks: Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a signaling protocol used to control communication over IP networks. T.38 fax relay standard was devised to permit faxes to be transported across IP systems. The WorkCentre 7120/7125’s Fax over IP kit sends and receives faxes using the T.38 and SIP protocols. The Fax over IP kit enables T.38 compliant IP fax to be transmitted over network and VoIP gateways and requires customers to have a SIP server or a T.38 compliant VoIP gateway: With customer’s SIP server, enables existing phone numbers or user names to be designated for destination With VoIP gateway, enables IP fax to be transmitted to G3 fax (that doesn’t have IP Fax (SIP) feature connected to public line Without a VoIP gateway or SIP server, enables IP faxes to be transmitted across intranet to another IP Fax compliant device For Internal Use Only
