5 To address the above issues, the Early Learning Standards have been developed by the Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development (CECED) to inform educators working with young children between the ages of 3-6 years regarding appropriate educational goals for this age group and promote developmentally appropriate practice in India

7 The NAEYC defines ELS as ‘expectations for the learning and development of young children.’ ARNEC further describes it as set of standards of what children are expected to know and be able to do.’
