Main Idea 1: Archaeological Importance The dig site at Catal Hoyuk has been the place of many discoveries that connect us to the past(about 9,000 years ago). Catal Hoyuk was one of the major towns at the time so it held a significant amount information about how the majority of humans lived in the period.

Main Idea 2: Daily Life Daily life in the early Neolithic age was, by our standards, unsafe and unsanitary. It was similar in many ways though. Pottery and ceramic were commonplace around early humans, since they were easy to make. Tools were developing to engulf a wide range of materials, such as the newly discovered bronze alloy. Metals were arriving and the world would change as never before.

Main Idea 3: Resources The town Catal Hoyuk was built away from fields and farms, though these were needed for survival. Instead, it was built in a wetland marsh, near mud for houses and water to drink. The closest food supply was meat from water birds, fish and eggs. Crops near Catal Hoyuk were marsh plants.

Main Idea 4: Houses Living quarters have changed much over the years. At Catal Hoyuk, everything was kept at home. Working areas, religious shrines, and burial grounds were all inside the house’s borders. Houses were compact and were in an adobe style.

Main Idea 5: Art Art was a major part of Catal Hoyuk’s culture. War paintings have been found scattered throughout the town, as have figurines and statues. Many of these are now decrepit and are being kept safely in museums.
