2 “The Arts and Culture Sector must be better off because of the 2010 and 2010 World Soccer event should be enriched because of the contributions of Arts and Culture” 229/01/2008

3 STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES To promote Arts, Culture and Heritage To contribute to Social Cohesion To contribute to Nation Building To contribute to Poverty Alleviation To host an African World Cup 3 29/01/2008

4 UNDERLYING ASPECTS Consideration must be given to the following throughout the programme and the planned activities: It must be ALL inclusive: - Women -Children -Youth -People living with disabilities -People living in rural areas All must be provided for in an integrated manner, i.e. they should not be segregated from the mainstream activities 4 29/01/2008

5 IT MUST BE “AFRICANISED ” It is an African World Cup, and must have a distinct African Flavour. Artists from the different regions of the African Continent must be incorporated. 5 29/01/2008

6 IT MUST OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINING AND SKILLS TRANSFER e.g. Curators Languages (Translators) Technical Skills (Stage Building) Artistic Skills 6 29/01/2008

7 IT MUST PROVIDE FOR MAIN AND FRINGE PROGRAMMES MAIN In FIFA Space Financed by DAC FRINGE Areas outside of FIFA Space Financed by Provinces, Local Authorities and Corporates Fringe must not be considered less important than main. 7 29/01/2008
