23 Using the GPLA Mathematics Lessons
As a committee we looked into how much time we would need to spend on each sub-strand across ES1 – S3. Each stage of learning was very different. For example, Fractions and Decimals in S3 required significantly more time than in S1. With this in mind, we put together a plan for the number of weeks that we thought should be spent teaching each sub-strand area. All schools agreed that each week one Number and Algebra sub-strand would be taught and one other sub-strand area. This meant that over a Stage, there would be approximately 70-75 weeks of learning in Number and Algebra and weeks across the other sub-strand areas, as they would be taught simultaneously throughout the week. ES1 would be spread over 40 weeks. Bradley Lanham

25 Scope and Sequences This is where the Mathematics Team are up to in our development of the GPLA Mathematics Program. We are currently looking into putting the units of work into a scope and sequence. All of the GPLA sub-strand teams decided on the order in which each piece of content should be taught. We are now putting our weekly plans together in a scope and sequence. On the website we have also broken (most) of the weekly lesson plans apart, as it is in the syllabus – i.e. Time 1 and Time 2 - so that you can order the content appropriately in a scope and sequence. If you make your own scope and sequence and wish to forward it to us, please do so. Bradley Lanham
