Tips for Supporting Study Create flashcards about a topic/poems/characters to use whilst out walking or travelling Mindmap the key information in each novel/poem/play – develop these as you learn in Year 10 to consolidate your learning this year and support your revision in Year 11. Read challenging texts, including novels – a recommended reading list is on the school website and on our own revision blog: www.haberevision.blogspot.co.uk Practise writing for different purposes that may come up in the exam, i.e descriptive, persuasive, argumentative.

13. Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar Spelling, punctuation and grammar is now marked in subjects other than English. In English it accounts for 20% of the overall grade, but it is also worth 5% of the marks in English Literature and other subjects such as History and Geography. Spelling, punctuation and grammar is a weakness for many students and is a key area for development. Please encourage them to work on this element of their work. This could be done by completing grammar exercises or simply by urging them to proofread and correct their own independent work. Students: start working on this now!
