Presentation on theme: "Am I a Friend To Jesus? A true friend is not easily found!"— Presentation transcript:

Am I a Friend To Jesus? A true friend is not easily found!

1 Corinthians 15:33-34 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. True friends help friends get to heaven!

John 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. Jesus called his disciples “friends”

Proverbs 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Note: There is here an application to our lesson. In order for Christ to be our friend, we must be a friend to Jesus!)

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --unless indeed you are disqualified. Do we bear the marks of friendship? What are those marks?

Am I A Friend To Jesus? Friends Stick Close to Each Other –Proverbs 18:24

Proverbs 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. A friend of Jesus will spend time with him in prayer, worship, study and meditation. (Intimacy)

Am I A Friend To Jesus? Friends Stick Close to Each Other –Proverbs 18:24 Friends Sacrifice for Each Other –John 15:13; Matthew 6:33-34

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. Jesus has been this kind of friend to us!

Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Do we sacrifice for Jesus?

Am I A Friend To Jesus? Friends Stick Close to Each Other –Proverbs 18:24 Friends Sacrifice for Each Other –John 15:13; Matthew 6:33-34 Friends are Loyal to Each Other –Proverbs 16:28; John 15:14

Proverbs 16:28 A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends. Consider from this that true friends are “tight.” Close, and devoted and loyal to one another.

John 15:14 “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.” Loyalty to Jesus is defined by Him. If we are friends to Jesus, we will show that loyalty through our obedience!

Am I A Friend To Jesus? Friends Stick Close to Each Other –Proverbs 18:24 Friends Sacrifice for Each Other –John 15:13; Matthew 6:33-34 Friends are Loyal to Each Other –Proverbs 16:28; John 15:14 Friends Have Faith in Each Other –Isaiah 41:8; James 2:23

Isaiah 41:8 “But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend.” Jehovah referred to Abraham as His friend. Why?

James 2:23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. It is our faith that ensures our friendship with Jesus Christ!

Am I a Friend To Jesus? Well? Are you His Friend? “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.” (John 15:14).
