1. Let’s try to guess which countries in Europe have the worst drug problem…. Each table pick one country for the MOST problems with drugs and one country for the LEAST Drug use in Europe: where is it the worst?  He is using cocaine. (cocaine is white, and like a powder)  He used a syringe to inject drugs into his veins.  She took too many pills. Why are drugs bad for people and society? Is there a drug problem in China? Where? Who? Are the criminal penalties for drug crimes too strict or not strict enough?

2. The chart above shows how many deaths in each country were caused directly by drugs (usually it is where a person takes too much of a drug, or commits suicide). Why does northern Europe have the worst drug problem? (Of course, nobody REALLY knows, but what is your guess? What do you think the reason is? Or, if you think there are many reasons, what are the MAIN reasons? France, Italy, and Spain don’t have such a big drug problem? People in northern Europe have more money than in Southern Europe, so that can’t be the reason.

3. Look at this castle by a lake. (“by” sometimes we use “by” in a way that is similar to “next to”) Would you like to live there? Why would you? Or Why wouldn’t you? (let’s only spend 2-3 minutes on this slide….I just thought it was a nice picture.)

4. Where does China send most of it’s exports to? Does China export the most to Japan? Does it export more products to Canada than the UK (England)? Let’s try to guess which countries and areas. Each table try to guess one or two countries and areas.

5. Why does China export so many products to North America and Europe? Can people in Germany, Hong Kong and Japan speak English? Why doesn’t China export a lot of products to India and Africa?

6. Which cities in the world have the highest percentage of millionaires ( 百万富翁 )? A millionaire (in the chart with statistics which we are about to look at) is defined as someone who has over $1,000,000 NOT including their main home. (So, that means they have about 60,000,000 人民币 with their house NOT included in the one million). Which cities in the world have the most? Let’s try to guess …

7. Look above at the two cities Zurich and Geneva. Both of these cities are in Switzerland. Many people believe that Switzerland has the best and highest OVERALL living standard in the world. It also has a social system that is very, very different than some places in the world. Why are there so many millionaires in _____Hong Kong, London___?
