2. Gather As we gather together let us make the sign of the cross – In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

4. Peace Pope Francis has asked for a day of prayer for Peace on Sunday 19 th January. Inner Peace - learning how to be calm. Peace between each other in school - making and keeping friends, sorting out arguments, making compromises, building bridges and learning how to listen to each other. Peace in the community - respecting differences, listening and talking. Peace in the world - ending wars, working for peace and peacekeeping, talking not fighting. Peace with God - forgiveness, a new start, being reconciled to God.

5. Listen Scripture from John’s Gospel 14:27 (The New Testament, Bible) Jesus said, “Peace I give you. My own peace I leave you. A peace no one else can offer. Don’t let your hearts be troubled or afraid. My gift to you is my peace.”

6. Respond Reflect on the scripture you have heard and pray quietly. Think about the gift of ‘peace’ given to us by Jesus. Together, let us now say the prayer Jesus gave us: Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

9. Peace starts with a smile and smiles start in each of us. So as you ‘Go Forth’ think of how we can all work for peace and greet people with a smile, today and always. In the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit. Amen Go Forth
