PLUTO Electric Screwdriver
(PLUSTorque) EDU2AE Controller Series Developed By: Jim Chase
2
Current Control PLUTO’s Current Control tools algorithm is based on three parameters: Current, Voltage, and Frequency. To set the torque target you dial in the Torque % and the RPM and calibrate to an external Transducer. Torque calibration is much like any clutch tool
3
Clutch Control PLUTO’s Clutch Control tools are new is 2012: highest torque clutch tools available. These tools run on the EDU2AE only They are good for applications that require a tool that is not sensitive to joint variations. See the Tool overview at the end of this presentation.

EDU2AE Control Parameters
Driver Model Torque level – tool dependent Joint type (HARD or SOFT) selects RPM profile Break Time: Down shift speed from pre-torque to final toque when in the Hard Joint RPM profile Ramp Time: select from 0.2 to 3.0 Seconds Speed: RPM - tool dependent Minimum/Maximum Time. Auto Reverse Reverse Speed & Torque Language: English, Italian, German, Spanish (French and Portuguese on request).

Modes of Control Torque mode Torque Lever mode Input Torque mode
Angle mode Angle Lever mode Input Angle mode
13
Torque mode Applications: Thread cutting into Plastic or Aluminum
Soft joint: measure angle from beginning of compression Torque mode The torque threshold starts the angle measurement. Final torque must fall between the min & max angle values set.
14
Torque Lever mode Applications:
Confirming correct length screw is used. Caution the operator not to pre-start the screw Torque Lever mode The tool lever pull starts the angle measurement. Final torque must fall between the min & max angle values set.
15
Torque Input mode Applications: Prox sensor on a torque arm
Confirm depth before starting to measure angle Good for threaded application with little PV torque Torque Input mode An input starts the angle measurement. Final torque must fall between the min & max angle values set.
16
Angle mode The tool runs to a preset Angle from a torque threshold.
17
The tool runs to a preset Angle from the tool’s lever start.
Angle Lever mode The tool runs to a preset Angle from the tool’s lever start.
18
The tool runs to a preset Angle from a input signal.
Input Angle mode The tool runs to a preset Angle from a input signal.
19
Application: Thread cutting into Plastic
Settings: T&A function: Torque Torque threshold: Min Test results: 20 rundown test shows 6% range with Kolver Same tests shows 7% range with Transducer Conclusion: Kolver T&A angle measurement is equal to Transducer in this application. The torque threshold starts the angle measurement. Final torque must fall between the min & max angle values set.
20
Muti Step strategies Pre-set each step as a program
Set screw count to 1 for each program Sequence through the steps with a lever pull Example: Torque and then Angle Two programs 1) torque & 2 Angle Cycle through with a lever pull
