As Geographers we will study Egypt and compare it to our country. As Scientists we will be able to identify different parts of the human body. As Writers we will explore different text types and develop our presentation. Confident IndividualsResponsible Citizens EnterpriseKUWSpiritual and MoralCommunities As enterprising individuals we will organise a cake sale to raise money for the PTA. We will choose recipes, bake cakes, organise letters, posters and banners and sell cakes to the whole school and to take home at morning break time. We will develop our knowledge of Ancient Egypt and compare Egypt to our own country. In our spiritual and moral development we will focus on Buddhism and Ancient Egyptian deities. We will have regular Philosophy for Children sessions to allow us to discuss and reflect as a class on different questions. We will visit Tullie House to broaden our knowledge of Ancient Egypt.

2 Essentials for Learning and LifeAreas of Learning Using Communication Attitudes- Learning to LearnHistorical, geographical and social understanding We will look at the structure and impact on the reader of letters, diary entries, instructions and stories using the “Big Write” technique. We will also create a booklet persuading people to visit Egypt on Holiday. We will cover greetings, numbers, classroom commands and age in French. We will read There’s a Pharaoh in our Bath and study how the characters are introduced with a focus on character descriptions. We will compare the Egyptian Cinderella book with the traditional version. We will have a travel agents role play area with speaking and listening, writing and money opportunities. This term we will focus on handwriting and presentation skills in books. We will become more patient and persevere when we are finding activities challenging. We will think carefully about our decisions and make insightful choices based on information we have gathered. We will all contribute to small group discussions and allow time for us all to air our own views. We will listen to each other and respect each others viewpoint. We will continue to enjoy working hard together and encourage each other. We will begin to push past any fear and find the motivation to keep trying. We will listen to others who offer us advice and accept this advice graciously. We will become more confident in our own abilities and try to solve problems and issues ourselves first. We will study Ancient Egypt: the landscape, the River Nile (papyrus paper) and its importance. The difference between Ancient and modern Egypt comparing many aspects such as farming, women, children etc. We will study Tutankhamen's life The process of mummification and how and why bodies were preserved. Study Egypt on a map, be able to locate it and refer to specific geographical information e.g. what continent it is in, major cities etc and how its country is different to ours. We will create travel brochures for somebody who is looking to go to Egypt on holiday. Scientific and Technological understanding We will have a look at the process of embalming and create canopic jars etc for mummification. We will be able to identify different parts of the human body and say what they are used for. From this we will discuss the basic needs and hygiene of humans. Using Mathematics We will continue to develop our skills as Mathematicians concentrating on addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, time, money, shapes position, direction and movement. Maths Mission to include treasure map linked to There’s a Pharaoh in our Bath and 3D shapes linked to pyramids. Understanding the arts We will create our own papyrus paper and paint our names on it in hieroglyphics. We will create Pharaoh’s headdress, camels, cuffs or necklace. We will look at different sunsets and the pyramids in sunset focusing on light and dark shading. Understanding physical development, health and well- being Using ICT Using the Phonics Play and TES websites. Wordshark and Numbershark. We will begin to use 2simple2handwrite. We will cover esafety and basic computer skills. PE sessions led by Onside Sports Coaching
