What we learned about Plants Bugs Infrared Acids and Bases The ocean Our trip to the Zoo!
3
Plants We performed an experiment to test what color light makes plants grow the best? We performed an experiment to test what color light makes plants grow the best? We learned that there are different wavelengths for different colors We learned that there are different wavelengths for different colors We learned that the colors we see are what are the wavelengths reflected from an object We learned that the colors we see are what are the wavelengths reflected from an object We found that plants grew best in clear sunlight, followed closely by red. The worst color to grow plants in was green. We found that plants grew best in clear sunlight, followed closely by red. The worst color to grow plants in was green. Plants in here!

BUGS!!!! We caught and observed live bugs We talked about what makes bugs important –They are a valuable part of the food chain –They help decompose trees and other plants so that the soils get more nutrients –We talked about how different bugs can do many different things and live in different places. We learned that these are called “niches”
5
Infrared Infrared is the heat that is given off of different objects –Not all objects give off the same heat– not even on the same body!! –We can leave behind heat with our feet! –Some animals such as snakes use infrared to see and find food! Very cool! My nose is a different color!
6
Acids and Bases ► We learned about acids and bases and tested the pH of different liquids like orange juice, pop and bleach ► We talked about what it means to have different liquids with different pH levels How does this effect living creatures? What happens when pollution changes the pH in different environments like the ocean? ► We learned about how corals die because of ocean acidification. What about other animals?
7
The Ocean We talked more about the ocean and how important it is to the Earth –It covers 70% of the Earth! We learned about how scientists study the ocean- we even got to try on scuba gear and look at whale bones!!
8
The Zoo! For our last day at Science Quest, we took a field trip to the zoo Some of us had never been to the zoo before and others had been a lot We got to see some incredible animals like elephants, reptiles, bears and primates! It was so cool!

Meet the Group!

My best friend Ellyse is my neighbor and we live by a creek. I remember when there was this huge and I mean huge crawfish which jumped up and Ellyse started screaming. I am very fascinated with animals and especially fish. I won’t explain where the creek is for it would be out of the secret. My fascination of animals leads to me liking science. Also, it leads to me liking Science Quest. My only pet is a fish and my brother, when I was younger, used to catch little lizards and some times snakes. They were all very cool. Joanne

I learned a lot about plants and what they need. We also learned about how bugs survive. Science Quest has been a lot and there still is more!

Quinton In Science Quest I have been doing experiments. It is a lot of fun there. I would like to go back there next time. I have learned how to do different experiments. When I grow up I would like to play in the N.B.A. There Is No I In Team
16
What I liked at the Zoo was the Spider Crab. I liked the Spider Crab because It is big and it looks like a spider. I like crabs because they taste good.

I like to go to a creek at the end of our street. I spend most of my day talking with my brother, playing with my dogs,or doing things with my friends. I don’t have any hobbies but I am thinking of getting one.
20
I do plant experiments such as trying to see what plants can grow better with. I can’t wait to find out what other things we’re going to learn here!
